DEVELOPMENT AND FUND RAISING

As you go through our wide scope of programs, special events, newsletter and audited financials you will see that we are making every effort to gain your support.  Fund raising and development isn’t about raising money, it is about raising friends.  We are not entitled to your support.  We must earn it!  It is our hope after you review these pages you will learn more about our agency and will become a friend of ucpn.

It is a significant fact that out of every dollar we raise, we spend 90 cents of it directly on programs.  Compare this to other agencies and you will see that this percentage is very impressive.

Funds you donate will go directly to help the children and adults with disabilities we serve.  The fact is we do not only help consumers with cerebral palsy, we help individuals challenged by a variety of disabilities including multiple sclerosis, strokes, muscular dystrophy, brain trauma or any developmental disability.  Your donation will also go to the area you specify to help.

Ninety-seven percent of our funds come from New York State OMRDD and SED, Medicaid and a variety of other governmental agencies.  The remaining 3% comes from donations and funds raised from special events.  Without these funds we would have to reduce or eliminate services we provide for our consumers.  In 2003 we had to eliminate our Pet Therapy Program because of a large drop in donations in 2002 and 2003 resulting from the 9-11 tragedy.  We had to drastically reduce our Leisure Services Program, which provides opportunities for consumers to participate in recreational events and trips.  Further cuts may have to occur if funding is not found.

Please help us raise the funds to bring back these programs to the levels they deserve.  Please read through our various sites and links and if you should have any questions, comments or suggestions do not hesitate to call Charles Evdos, our Development Director, at (516) 378-2000 on extension 648.  We invite you to tour our 15-acre campus.
