Every year the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County, Inc holds a county-wide Trivia Challenge event at our center here in Roosevelt. Trivia Challenge is an academic fundraising event that combines education, philanthropy and a good time. Since the events inception, Nassau County students, teachers and administrators have helped thousands of children and adults with disabilities served by the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County, Inc. Trivia Challenge takes place on the Elementary, Junior High, and High School levels. It is one of ucpn’s most successful and exciting fundraisers. The competition is known as the event “where students with great minds and good hearts raise funds for ucpn.”
The ucpn Development Department sends trivia tests to teachers throughout Nassau County who then administer them to their students. Participating students, in teams of four, take the 100-question Trivia Challengesm written test. It covers a wide variety of subjects from academics to popular culture. The test takes approximately 45 minutes to complete and can be administered any time starting in October through the beginning of February. Students raise money for ucpn by asking their family and friends to sponsor them to take the test and we offer students many exciting fundraising prizes. The highest scoring team from each school is then invited to compete in the county-wide Trivia Challenge Championship held at our agency. The winning team on each level receives the Trivia Challenge trophy to display in their school for a year. The finals will be held on February 23rd, 24th, 25th, and 26th in 2009.

In support of our Trivia Challenge event, we have speakers who can make a presentation at your school. We believe it is important to educate "our children" so that they may have a better understanding of people with Cerebral Palsy and other developmental disabilities. In addition, we will explain the Trivia Challenge event and how it will benefit the thousands of children and adults supported by ucpn.
Come join the growing number of schools in Nassau County who participate in Trivia Challenge. If you have any questions, please contact Michelle Gevirtz, Development Associate, at (516) 378-2000, ext. 651 or email:
