2007 Knight to Remember

 

KNIGHT TO REMEMBER

“PIRATE’S ADVENTURE”
On December 2nd, the Grand Ballroom of the Uniondale Marriott was the setting of the Council of Auxiliaries popular fundraiser, A Knight to Remember, with the theme this year being “A Pirate’s Adventure.” With colorful and creative decorations, the room was transformed into a tropical island complete with pirate ships, palm trees, parrots and buried treasure.

This was the 6th year for this mother and son event, and the attendees, with enthusiastic and glowing remarks, were heard to say that it was one of the best! Dressed in imaginative costumes, some that would win prizes later in the evening, the boys walked the plank that took them to “Treasure Island” and the obstacle course. The DJ’s music and games kept things lively, as did a surprise visit from a pair of combatant pirates, and later boys and moms alike, sat quietly spellbound as they watched the magician work his slight of hand. It was heartwarming to watch the boys and moms working together against the clock, gathering as many items as possible for the scavenger hunt, and then sharing a special dance at the end of the evening.

Everyone had a wonderful time and is looking forward to next year’s A Knight to Remember with anticipation and excitement. Please mark DECEMBER 7TH, 2008 on your calendar and plan to join us on another adventure.
