"A community can be judged by how they treat the neediest in their group. We should be proud of how we've addressed the needs of people with disabilities in our community."
- Bob McGuire, Executive Director
Dear Friends,
Happy New Year to all!! I am hoping that everyone had a wonderful holiday season spent with family and friends. The year 2012 wasn’t a good year for many, especially those that are still trying to rebuild their lives and homes after hurricane Sandy. The United Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County Inc. (ucpn) suffered devastating destruction to three of our residential homes, and the Forget-Me-Not Ball and the Festival of Trees, two of our biggest fundraisers, had to be cancelled. The monetary losses that ucpn has sustained are incredible.
Our Council of Auxiliaries, along with our remaining auxiliaries, did an amazing job this past year working as a team to raise the much needed funds it takes to support our programs. We had two events that we “teamed up” on, the Lord & Taylor “Shop for a Cause” and the Milleridge Inn Holiday Luncheon. Both of these events were quite successful and just prove that teamwork does pay off. The many other functions that were held by our auxiliaries were also successful and I thank each one for their continued loyalty, support and devotion to ucpn.
Please keep in mind that we are having our garage sale on May 6th, 7th and 8th. If you have any items that you no longer want, please keep us in mind. We always welcome volunteers and would be happy if you would bring a friend along to any of our functions.
I look forward to another profitable year with you and wish peace, health and happiness to all.
